Far less to read in this week’s Typeface Tuesday as the graphic here definitely speaks a 1,000 words. In previous articles I have explained the difference between serif and sans serif fonts, and given an over view of spacing in type.
This week I am giving you a brief outline of the anatomy of fonts. Type goes back for centuries (longer if we allow for calligraphy) and over this time many cultures and technologies have named all the various elements of a character. What I have done here is to flag up a number of the most common labels to give an idea of the anatomy of type.
(Again, due to annual leave, this Gabriel Design #TypefaceTuesday is being published well in advance, and not on a Tuesday!)
